Yesterday was a fantastic window to take our new boat ‘Whakaari Express’ out to Great Barrier.
On board was 8 RAID Open Water students, all taking full advantage, and completing their course somewhere a bit different. We also had a couple of keen Cray hunters too…
Luckily we had lovely flat water and nice weather conditions, and only copping a little bit of rain on the way back in. All our students did exceptionally well, and it all came together on the last dive. Laken and Basti absolutely blew me away with how confident they looked with their buoyancy!!
Visibility wasn’t too bad, and we managed to see some really cool aquatic life you don’t see too often. One of the things I always seem to notice when I dive Great Barrier is how supersized everything is! Its like all the fish are on steroids..
Overall diving from the new boat was very comfy and easy. Grant can poke her in to some very nice dive spots all over the Hauraki.
And at the very end of the day, we where lucky to be graced with the presence of gorgeous little seal pup..
The day was a great success, and if you would like to join us on one of our trips, just check out our trip list for the next few months. We have some awesome destinations coming up, so get in touch..
