XR Advanced Nitrox and Deco Procedures

Congratulations to Mike, Nick, Aaron and Logan on completing the first SSI XR technical course to be run in NZ. This course introduces students to standardised technical diving configurations, redundant gas supplies and gas switching. On completing the courses they are qualified to use gas mixes with up to 100% oxygen and limited decompression dives up to 15 minutes to a maximum depth of 40m.

This is the first step towards technical extended range diving to depths beyond the recognised recreational limit of 40m. The next step being the SSI TXR courses which take students to greater depths, longer decompression obligations and eventually the use of trimix as a breathing gas.

Unfortunately, poor weather limited the final days diving to Lake Pupuke. However, it was happy campers all around after everyone successfully completed the course.
