Please find listed a selection of Specialty courses available at Kiwi Scuba Divers. Course costs include theory and required training dives. Many of these courses are run on demand, please contact us with your preferred dates.
Deep Diving - $499
18-40m. It’s not as some people think, mysterious and intimidating, in fact, this course teaches you how to plan & carry out deep dives safely and confidently. From historic shipwrecks to dramatic walls, training as a deep diver opens up a whole world of exploration.
This is a three dive specialty that is typically taught over two days – it is a perfect compliment to the Wreck Diver Course!
Dive Guide – Price on Request
The guide program is designed to provide divers with the knowledge, experience and training required to supervise and guide certified recreational divers.
This is an advanced and intensive course. It requires experience in deep, navigation and night & limited visibility as well as the Diver Stress and Rescue certification. It is also a prerequisite to have a minimum of 40 logged dives and 25 hours of logged dive time.
On completion the diver can be certified as a Dive Guide (able to guide certified family and friends) or as a Professional Dive Guide (able to be employed in the diving industry).
Dry Suit Diver - $249
Beat the cold and be warm by using a drysuit. Dry suits let you dive in even the coldest conditions but they are a little more complex than a wetsuit. The Dry Suit Diver course will help you perfect your trim and get the most from a dry suit and make the most from your dives all year round
This course requires an evening pool session and an open water diving day.
Enriched Air Nitrox $250
Diving enriched air lets you safely extend your no decompression limits, which means more time underwater and shorter surface intervals - so you can get back in the water sooner!!
The most common misconceptions about Nitrox is that it is for divers wanting to go deeper and that you need special equipment. However, nitrox is most beneficial at depths of 5 to 30m with NO special equipment required.A short course is all that is required to begin using nitrox immediately.
New Zealand standards require the diver to complete two dives using nitrox prior to certification. These can be completed without your instructor as but your instructor wil need to see proof these dives have been completed.
Equipment Techniques - $199
The Equipment Techniques program teaches you how to choose, maintain and store your Total Diving System. This ensures performance and increases the longevity of the equipment.
This is a knowledge based specialty that is typically completed in a few hours.
React Right – Oxygen Provider - $175
Learn what to do when things go wrong. The Oxygen Provider course teaches you to safely administer oxygen in a diving emergency.
This is a simple classroom session and is typically completed in a few hours or held in conjunction with the Diver Stress and Rescue, AED Provider or First Aid courses.
React Right – AED Provider - $175
Learn to use an Automatic External Defibrillator and help in a worst case scenario. An AED can be used to help reestablish effective heart rhythm of victims who have suffered cardiac events or drownings.
This is a simple classroom session and is typically completed in a few hours or held in conjunction with the Diver Stress and Rescue, Oxygen Provider or First Aid courses.
React Right – First Aid – $249
This Emergency training program consists of Primary Assessment, First Aid and CPR Skills, Primary Stabilisation techniques. This is a fundamental course for those who participate in outdoor activities and its teachings can be transferred to any walk of life.
This is a simple classroom session and is typically completed in a few hours or held in conjunction with the Diver Stress and Rescue, Oxygen Provider or AED Provider courses.
